Sensors in kitchen appliances, climatizing units, communicators, power supply and other household utilities warn the computer when the item is likely to fail. A repairman will show up even before any obvious breakdown occurs.
I recently came across a great blog post by Modern Mechanix. The post revisits a 1968 article which asked the question of what the world would look like in 40 years. Besides the usual super fast cars and rocket ships there are a lot of references to things that now exist or are close to becoming a reality.
