Usually when we think of fitness based smart objects things like Fitbit, Fuelband or the Jawbone Up come to mind. One Indiegogo campaign hopes to change that.
SmartMat is an smart yoga mat which has the ability to learn your yoga skill level and give you instantaneous feedback on how to better improve your yoga experience. The project, which reached it’s $110,000 funding goal in less than 24 hours, allows for users to bring the expertise of a yoga instructor into their own homes.
The device uses a multitude of various sensors to measure, process, and learn various user poses. Instantaneous feedback is given via low power Bluetooth to a connected smart phone or tablet. The mat is battery operable with an expected life of 6-8 hours and is rechargeable via a standard USB wall wart.
SmartMats are expected to be available to backers beginning this July.
